Victoria

Victoria is my masterpiece (thus far).  I put aside this incredible old and rare Victorian lamp on my shelf awaiting an inspiration that might do her justice.  She is adorned with many tiny flowers and 24K gold painting over cranberry glass.  My challenge on this project was to create a shade that followed her style and power.   Because of the value and rarity of this lamp, I felt it necessary to give her a hand-beaded fringe with an abundance of Precosia crystals.  My goal for the fringe was simply to capture the gorgeous colours in the base.   Once again, my camera is not up to the task of capturing the fringe, which sparkless like crazy in real life.  I surprised myself by finding the absolute perfect silk fabric for the shade - best match I could have made.  The four corner cutouts are all different designs, with a combination of white and painted floral appliques.  I have found that the more I gaze upon this lamp, the happier I am with each of those four designs, my favourite changing every time I look at them.  I will admit to being rather proud of myself for the job I did creating a perfect shade for this lovely lamp.   Victoria is 28 inches tall and 19 inches wide.  $2600
